Referral pads as a marketing tool
We print a lot of these at Printing Brisbane, and we know they work for our customers. It is well known that the best source of new customers, for any business, is referrals. For allied health professionals, referrals from a GP are the equivalent of gold bricks for building a business!
GPs are trusted by their patients, and they have the same goal as you: to help their patient get better as quickly as possible. So, to reach the dual goal of quick recovery for the patient, and business building for you, it needs to be very easy for the patient (customer) to contact you, and for the referrer to make the recommendation.
The preferred method for most allied health professionals to reach these new patients is often referral pads. They capture the basic details needed for treatment, and make it easy for the patient to contact and find you.
Economical use of referral pads
Our suggested strategy for distribution is to initially get a large number of small pads (e.g. 25 sheets per pad) printed, and distribute them to every GP in your local area. That is one for every GP’s desk, not just one for each medical centre.
Then, as GPs use the pads and order more from you, send these high-level referrers larger pads with more sheets (e.g. 50+ sheets per pad). That way they are encouraged to make more referrals, and you don’t have the expense of getting new pads to them too often. For the other GPs who choose not to refer to you, they only had a small pad to start off with, so only minimal money spent!
Tell your story
If your pads are being sent to GPs you don’t have an existing relationship with, then it is strongly recommended the pad is accompanied by an informative flyer or card. It should describe your practice in detail, including your specialities and strengths. Give them good strong reasons to use those pads!

Don’t miss the opportunity to report back to the GP about your new patient (within guidelines). Building a relationship based communication and trust is always a winner!
